Drivers in Abu Dhabi Face New Speed Limits and Pavement Markings

Drivers in Abu Dhabi are advised to stay vigilant as new speed limits and pavement markings have been implemented across various key roads in the emirate. This initiative, undertaken by the Department of Transport (DoT), aims to enhance road safety and reduce traffic accidents.

Several major roads have seen adjustments to their speed limits. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road (E-12) has witnessed a reduction in speed between Jubail Island and Saadiyat towards Abu Dhabi, going from 140 km/h to 120 km/h. The same road further reduces its speed limit to 100 km/h as it approaches Saadiyat Island from Abu Dhabi.

Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Street (E-311) has seen adjustments in two sections. The speed limit near the Sweihan Bridge intersection in the direction of Baniyas has been lowered from 140 km/h to 120 km/h. Further down the road, near the Baniyas Cemetery heading towards Baniyas, the speed limit has been reduced from 120 km/h to 100 km/h.

The alterations extend to Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street (E-10) as well. Drivers approaching Abu Dhabi on the Sheikh Zayed Bridge will encounter a reduced speed limit of 100 km/h, down from the previous 120 km/h.

These changes are accompanied by the introduction of new pavement markings on the affected roads. These markings are designed to clearly highlight the revised speed limits, ensuring drivers are aware of the new regulations.

The DoT emphasizes the importance of adhering to the new speed limits for the safety of all road users. They urge drivers to be attentive, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, and avoid distractions while driving.

The implementation of these measures aligns with Abu Dhabi's commitment to creating a safe and sustainable transportation network. By prioritizing road safety, the DoT aims to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities on the emirate's roads.

Drivers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the revised speed limits and remain vigilant while navigating the roads. Adherence to these regulations and responsible driving practices contribute significantly to a safer and smoother transportation experience for everyone in Abu Dhabi.
