Thick Fog Engulfs UAE, National Center of Meteorology Warns Drivers

The United Arab Emirates awoke to a blanket of thick fog on Saturday morning, prompting the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) to issue a nationwide red alert. The NCM warned residents of significantly reduced visibility due to the dense fog, which could worsen in certain areas.

The advisory urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads, emphasizing the need to reduce speed and use fog lights. Images and videos shared online showed iconic landmarks in Dubai and other cities obscured by the fog, highlighting the widespread impact.

Authorities in various emirates, including Abu Dhabi, also issued warnings and implemented measures to ensure safety during the foggy conditions. This included reducing speed limits on major roadways to encourage safe driving practices.

The fog is expected to persist throughout the morning, potentially impacting visibility for longer durations. The NCM has advised residents to stay updated on the latest weather updates and exercise caution while traveling.
