The United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced a $5 million contribution to the World Trade Organization's (WTO) newly established Women Exporters in Digital Economy Fund. This initiative, launched just ahead of the 13th WTO Ministerial Conference in Dubai, aims to bridge the financing gap faced by female entrepreneurs in developing countries.
The fund, with a total target of $50 million, seeks to unlock the potential of the digital economy for women-led businesses. By providing financial assistance and resources, the program hopes to empower women to overcome challenges and tap into new export opportunities.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade and Chair of the conference, emphasized the significance of this initiative. He stated that it embodies a collective commitment to supporting women and represents a crucial step towards fostering economic growth and development through their active participation.
