The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) recently recognized seven top-performing healthcare facilities for exceeding the Emiratisation targets outlined in the Tawteen initiative. This program, launched in 2023, aims to significantly increase the number of UAE nationals employed within the emirate's healthcare sector.
DoH officials, including Undersecretary Her Excellency Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, commended the dedication of these facilities in exceeding the Tawteen targets. This achievement directly contributes to Abu Dhabi's vision of establishing a world-class healthcare system driven by a highly skilled and diverse workforce.
The ceremony honored Zayed Military Hospital, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Tawam Hospital, Al Dhafra Hospitals, Amana Healthcare Medical and Rehabilitation Hospital, Burjeel Medical City, and Mediclinic Al Jowhara. These facilities represent a range of healthcare providers, including both public and private institutions, highlighting the widespread commitment to Emiratisation across the sector.
Dr. Al Ghaithi specifically lauded the efforts of these facilities, stating, "Today, we celebrate the top-performing healthcare facilities that have not only achieved but exceeded their Tawteen targets, setting an example for others and providing the sector with a competent and skilled healthcare workforce."
The Tawteen initiative reflects the strategic goals of the Abu Dhabi government to empower Emirati nationals and create a more dynamic and self-sufficient workforce. By attracting and retaining highly qualified Emirati healthcare professionals, the DoH aims to not only meet the growing demand for medical services but also cultivate a future generation of healthcare leaders within the emirate.
This recognition program underscores the DoH's commitment to fostering a collaborative environment within the healthcare sector. By acknowledging the achievements of these leading facilities, the DoH hopes to inspire others to prioritize Emirati recruitment and create a talent pipeline that ensures the continued excellence of Abu Dhabi's healthcare system.
The success of the Tawteen program in its initial phase signifies a positive step towards achieving the ambitious goal of employing 5,000 UAE nationals in the healthcare sector by the end of 2025. The DoH looks forward to continued collaboration with all healthcare providers in Abu Dhabi to empower Emirati talent and solidify the emirate's position as a regional leader in healthcare excellence.
