The Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) ushered in a new tradition this week, hosting the inaugural ceremony for its Education and Knowledge Awards Program. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of educators, schools, and initiatives across Abu Dhabi's vibrant educational landscape.
The program, launched earlier in 2023, aims to become a cornerstone in fostering continuous improvement within the emirate's educational ecosystem. Recognizing exceptional contributions serves a dual purpose: it honors those who are shaping the future generation, and it inspires others to strive for excellence.
A diverse range of awards were presented across various categories. The coveted "Principal of the Year" award went to Dr. Aisha Al-Mansoori, who has spearheaded innovative teaching methods at Al Amal Girls' School. Her dedication to fostering a culture of curiosity and critical thinking resonated deeply with the selection committee.
The "Outstanding Teacher" award found its recipient in Omar Rashid, a passionate science educator from Al Bayan Technical School. Rashid's ability to ignite a love for STEM subjects in his students, coupled with his commitment to developing engaging learning experiences, made him a clear frontrunner.
Beyond individual recognition, the program also acknowledged exceptional school-wide initiatives. The "Best School Initiative in Innovation" award was presented to Al Noor Model School for its groundbreaking "Learning Through Play" program. This program, designed for pre-school students, utilizes a play-based approach to foster cognitive development, social skills, and emotional intelligence.
Another school initiative that garnered recognition was the "Community Engagement Project" implemented by Al Rowwad Private School. This project saw students actively involved in environmental awareness campaigns within their local community, fostering a sense of social responsibility and civic engagement.
The ceremony, held at the Emirates Palace, was a glittering affair attended by dignitaries, educators, and representatives from across the education sector. H.E. Dr. Mohammed Al-Mahmoud, Director General of ADEK, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the department's unwavering commitment to supporting educators and promoting excellence in education.
"The caliber of nominees we received this year was truly inspiring," Dr. Al-Mahmoud remarked. "These awards serve as a testament to the dedication and innovation that thrives within Abu Dhabi's educational institutions. We are confident that by recognizing such achievements, we can further elevate the quality of education for all our students."
The inaugural Education and Knowledge Awards Program marks a significant milestone for ADEK. By celebrating excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, the program paves the way for a brighter future for education in Abu Dhabi.
