The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), a UAE-based humanitarian organization, launched the second edition of its Productive Families Marketing Exhibition in Mukalla, Yemen on Sunday. The event, held under the patronage of Hadhramaut Governor Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi and in partnership with Yemen's Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, aims to empower local families by providing a platform to showcase and sell their goods.
The exhibition, which runs until the end of Ramadan, features products from 62 families in Mukalla. With a focus on traditional Yemeni crafts and culinary delights, the expo offers visitors a chance to explore a wide variety of items, including handicrafts, heritage products, textiles, incense, perfumes, accessories, and popular food items.
This initiative highlights the ERC's commitment to supporting Yemeni communities and fostering economic development. By offering a platform for these small businesses, the exhibition empowers families to generate income, achieve financial independence, and contribute to the local economy.
The inaugural ceremony drew praise from local officials, who expressed their gratitude to the UAE and the ERC for their ongoing humanitarian efforts in Yemen. Shawqi Al Tamimi, the ERC Representative attending the ceremony, emphasized the organization's dedication to empowering Yemeni families and fostering self-sufficiency.
The Productive Families Marketing Exhibition serves as a valuable resource for Yemeni families in Mukalla. By connecting them directly with consumers, the event eliminates middlemen and allows them to reap the full benefits of their labor. This not only strengthens their businesses but also injects a sense of economic empowerment within the community.
Furthermore, the exhibition serves as a cultural celebration, showcasing the skills and traditions that Yemeni families have passed down for generations. The unique handicrafts, textiles, and food items on display offer a glimpse into Yemen's rich heritage and provide a platform for its preservation.
The ERC's Productive Families Marketing Exhibition is a welcome initiative that fosters economic development and cultural preservation in Mukalla. By empowering local families and celebrating Yemeni traditions, the event serves as a beacon of hope for a brighter future for the community.
