The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is continuing its Ramadan outreach program in Chad, ensuring access to essential food supplies for both Sudanese refugees and the local community in Amdjarass. This initiative, spearheaded by a dedicated UAE humanitarian team, reflects the nation's commitment to providing relief and promoting social solidarity during the holy month.
The program centers on distributing over 6,000 Ramadan food baskets, reaching families not only within Amdjarass but also extending to surrounding villages. The Chadian Red Crescent plays a crucial role in coordinating these efforts, ensuring the aid reaches those most in need.
This Ramadan initiative is just one facet of a broader UAE humanitarian program in Chad. Recognizing the additional challenges faced by the Sudanese refugee population, the UAE team, working in collaboration with the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, has undertaken several other crucial actions.
Education is a key focus area. Through the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, 7,500 school bags were distributed to Sudanese refugee students, bolstering their ability to continue their education.
The UAE's efforts extend beyond immediate needs, aiming to improve living conditions within the Oure Cassoni refugee camp, located in the Kariari area. Residents there received five tonnes of dates, a staple food item during Ramadan. Additionally, the camp's infrastructure received a significant upgrade with the installation of 50 solar-powered lighting units, providing much-needed illumination for roads and schools.
The UAE's humanitarian efforts in Chad have been met with gratitude from local authorities. Mohamed Moussi, the government administration official for Sudanese refugees in the Kariari area, expressed his deep appreciation for the ongoing support. He highlighted the positive impact these initiatives have, particularly the distribution of Ramadan supplies, in alleviating the hardships faced by refugee families.
The UAE's commitment to humanitarian aid transcends national borders. This Ramadan program in Chad exemplifies this dedication, fostering a spirit of cooperation and social cohesion during a time of heightened significance for many.
