Dubai Eyes Japanese Tech Expertise Through Roadshow

DMCC, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, hosted its inaugural "Made for Trade Live" roadshow in Japan, targeting companies in the burgeoning fields of Web3, artificial intelligence (AI), and gaming. This strategic outreach aims to attract Japanese tech firms to Dubai and bolster the emirate's position as a regional hub for these innovative sectors.

The event, held in Tokyo, capitalized on the flourishing trade ties between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Japan. With over 80 Japanese companies already established within DMCC, representing nearly a quarter of all Japanese businesses in the UAE, the free zone authority sees significant potential for further collaboration.

DMCC executives addressed Japanese business leaders from the Web3, AI, and gaming industries, highlighting the advantages of expanding their operations through DMCC. They emphasized the district's unique ability to connect these companies to some of the world's fastest-growing markets, leveraging Dubai's strategic location and extensive trade network.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC's Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, underscored the strong presence of Japanese businesses within DMCC. "We are home to almost a quarter of the entire Japanese business presence in the UAE," he remarked, "and we believe there's immense untapped potential in this market."

The roadshow served as a platform to showcase the comprehensive support system offered by DMCC. Attendees were introduced to the free zone's streamlined business setup process, competitive tax environment, and world-class infrastructure.

The focus on Web3, AI, and gaming aligns with Dubai's commitment to fostering a dynamic and future-proof economy. The emirate has implemented a series of progressive initiatives to attract and support companies in these cutting-edge sectors, including the establishment of dedicated AI and blockchain ecosystems.

The UAE Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Shihab Ahmed Mohamed Abdulrahmaim Alfaheem, turut participated in the event, emphasizing the robust bilateral trade relationship between the two nations. He highlighted the impressive growth in trade volume, exceeding $54.5 billion in 2022, and lauded initiatives like the UAE-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Initiative (CSPI) and the Joint UAE-Japan Committee on Advanced Technology (JU-CAT) for their role in leveraging technology and data for mutual prosperity. Ambassador Alfaheem further endorsed Dubai as a gateway to flourishing markets and expressed his support for DMCC's efforts to attract Japanese firms.

The DMCC roadshow in Japan signifies the emirate's proactive approach to attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and propelling its growth as a global innovation hub. By forging stronger ties with leading Japanese tech companies, Dubai aims to solidify its position at the forefront of the Web3, AI, and gaming revolutions.
