The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) spread joy and Eid al-Adha festivities to nearly 100 orphaned and cancer-stricken children in Syria's Latakia province. This heartwarming initiative formed part of "Operation Gallant Knight 2," a humanitarian endeavor launched by the UAE's Ministry of Defence.
The celebration, held in collaboration with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, served as a beacon of hope amidst the ongoing struggles faced by many Syrians. The event offered a welcome respite for the children, allowing them to experience the traditional joys of Eid al-Adha alongside their peers.
Charity workers organized an engaging program filled with music, games, and activities, bringing smiles to the faces of the young participants. The event also served a vital role in providing psychological support, a crucial element in the overall recovery process for those affected by the recent earthquake.
"Our aim was to spread smiles and happiness among the orphaned and children battling cancer during Eid," said Mohammed Khamees Al Kaabi, Head of the ERC Delegation in Syria. "We wanted them to experience the festivities and a sense of normalcy alongside their friends."
This initiative reflects the UAE's unwavering commitment to supporting the Syrian people. Operation Gallant Knight 2 has seen the dispatch of 186 aircraft and four ships loaded with essential supplies, including foodstuffs, medicines, and medical equipment, to bolster the nation's recovery efforts.
Ruba Hussien, Secretary-General of the Assawari Association, a Syrian community organization, expressed her profound gratitude for the ERC's efforts. "The UAE's generosity has brought immense joy to children facing incredibly difficult circumstances," she said. "This gesture of support is truly invaluable."
The ERC's Eid al-Adha celebration serves as a potent symbol of solidarity and compassion. By offering a moment of respite and celebration, the organization has not only provided a much-needed emotional boost to these vulnerable children but has also underscored the importance of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
