Record-Breaking Attendance at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Marks Ramadan Night of Prayer

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi witnessed a historic turnout on the 27th night of Ramadan, with over 70,000 worshippers gathering for a special night of prayer. This marks the largest number of worshippers ever recorded at the mosque during Ramadan.

The gathering included worshippers attending both Taraweeh, the special night prayers during Ramadan, and Tahajjud, late-night prayers performed during the last ten nights of the holy month. A significant number, over 59,000, participated in Tahajjud prayers, reflecting the heightened spiritual significance of the later nights of Ramadan.

The mosque administration also facilitated the religious experience by providing Iftar meals for over 33,500 worshippers. This ensured a seamless transition from the daily fast to the evening prayers.

Sheikh Idris Abkar, the Imam of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, led the prayers. In his sermons, he offered prayers for the continued peace and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for the guidance of its leaders, and for the forgiveness of the nation's Founding Fathers.

The record-breaking attendance signifies the deep reverence Muslims hold for the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, a dazzling architectural marvel and a symbol of Islamic unity. The mosque's serene ambiance and its commitment to facilitating worship during Ramadan create a powerful draw for worshippers across the UAE and beyond.

This surge in attendance also highlights the growing importance of Ramadan observances in the region. As the holy month progresses, mosques across the UAE witness a significant increase in worshippers, underlining the deep spiritual significance of Ramadan for the Muslim community.
