Emirates Reprographic Rights Body Strengthens Presence at Abu Dhabi Book Fair

The Emirates Reprographic Rights Management Association (ERRA) concluded its second successful participation at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) with a dedicated pavilion. ERRA leveraged the event to raise public awareness regarding the importance of copyright protection and the rights associated with literary works. They also actively engaged with rights holders, including authors and publishers, to expand their membership base and acquire authorizations.

Throughout the fair, ERRA disseminated informational materials and conducted discussions highlighting the significance of copyright in fostering a thriving publishing industry. Copyright safeguards the creative and financial interests of authors and publishers, enabling them to continue producing high-quality content. ERRA's presence at the fair addressed a crucial need within the UAE's burgeoning literary landscape.

The Association's efforts extended beyond public education. ERRA capitalized on the Abu Dhabi Book Fair as a platform to forge strategic partnerships. A noteworthy achievement was their collaboration with TRENDS Research & Advisory. This agreement facilitates data exchange, with a particular focus on universities and libraries across the UAE. This collaboration has the potential to streamline copyright licensing procedures within these institutions.

Furthermore, ERRA convened a meeting with a delegation from the Egyptian Publishers Association, headed by Farid Zahrane. The meeting served as a platform to exchange knowledge and explore potential areas of collaboration. This dialogue between the two organizations paves the way for future agreements that would benefit both the UAE and Egyptian publishing sectors.

ERRA's participation at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair signifies a commitment to fostering a robust and well-protected creative ecosystem within the UAE. The association's outreach initiatives empower rights holders and educate the public, contributing to a flourishing literary environment. The newly established partnerships hold promise for propelling the UAE's publishing sector forward.
