On May 31, 2014, His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially inaugurated the Dibba Al-Hisn Water Canal project. The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the city, not only for its economic potential but also for its beautification and recreational offerings.
The 960-meter-long canal, stretching 30 meters wide and reaching a depth of six meters, winds along the new corniche road in Dibba Al-Hisn. This prime location positions the canal as a central attraction, drawing both residents and tourists to its picturesque waterfront.
The inauguration ceremony itself was a festive occasion, drawing in dignitaries such as His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, alongside other esteemed officials. The event featured lively entertainment, including rowing boat races and swimming competitions, showcasing the canal's potential as a venue for aquatic activities.
However, the significance of the Dibba Al-Hisn Water Canal project extends far beyond its role as a scenic landmark. The canal is designed to serve multiple purposes, functioning as a key element in the city's infrastructure. The water channel plays a crucial role in irrigation, providing much-needed resources for the surrounding areas. This, in turn, is expected to contribute to the growth of Dibba Al-Hisn's agricultural sector.
Beyond its practical applications, the canal also promises to be a hub for leisure and recreation. The surrounding area boasts beautiful landscaping, featuring palm trees, vibrant seasonal flowers, and sprawling green spaces. These features create an inviting atmosphere for residents to relax, enjoy picnics, or engage in outdoor activities. The meticulously designed walkways and open spaces bordering the canal are ideal for walking, jogging, or cycling, promoting a healthy lifestyle among the community.
The Dibba Al-Hisn Water Canal project represents a strategic investment in the city's future. By combining economic benefits with recreational opportunities, the canal is poised to become a cornerstone of Dibba Al-Hisn's development, attracting visitors and fostering a vibrant community space for residents.
