The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has implemented a new decision to regulate food and fodder sampling for control and inspection purposes within the emirate. This move signifies ADAFSA's commitment to strengthening the existing legislative framework and ensuring the safety and quality of food throughout the entire food chain in Abu Dhabi.
The decision, authorized by the ADAFSA Board of Directors, empowers His Excellency Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, Director-General of ADAFSA, to establish a standardized sampling protocol and appoint qualified personnel to conduct these procedures effectively. The new regulations will encompass sampling practices for food and fodder control and inspection across all stages of the food trade within the emirate.
"By regulating food and fodder sampling, ADAFSA aims to create a more robust legislative system that prioritizes food safety and animal health, " said His Excellency Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri. "This decision will ensure that food and fodder supplies in Abu Dhabi adhere to the UAE's technical regulations and standard specifications, ultimately contributing to enhanced food security in the emirate. "
The implementation of these sampling regulations offers several advantages. Firstly, it streamlines the process for collecting food and fodder samples during inspections, ensuring consistency and accuracy in data collection. Secondly, it paves the way for the re-analysis of samples obtained from food establishments and fodder handling facilities, providing additional safeguards and transparency. This, in turn, strengthens consumer confidence in the safety and quality of food products available in Abu Dhabi.
Furthermore, the appointment of qualified personnel to conduct sampling procedures signifies ADAFSA's dedication to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism within the food safety sector. These personnel will undergo specialized training to ensure they possess the necessary expertise and skills to carry out sampling procedures effectively and hygienically.
The new regulations are expected to have a significant impact on Abu Dhabi's food safety landscape. By establishing a more rigorous framework for food and fodder sampling, ADAFSA is taking a proactive approach towards safeguarding public health and promoting a culture of food safety within the emirate. This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi government's broader vision of ensuring a sustainable and secure food supply chain for its residents.
