In a move that significantly bolsters travel options for passengers, Emirates and United Airlines announced a major expansion of their codeshare partnership on September 5, 2023. The agreement grants Emirates customers access to a wider network, including nine exciting destinations in Mexico.
Previously, the codeshare partnership facilitated connections between Emirates flights and United's domestic US network via three key hubs:Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco. This expanded agreement marks the first inclusion of a country outside the US within the codeshare program.
The new additions significantly enhance connectivity for Emirates passengers traveling to and from Mexico. They can now seamlessly connect to popular leisure destinations like Cancun, Cozumel, Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta, Guadalajara, San Jose Del Cabo, Leon/Guanajuato, and Queretaro, in addition to the previously served Mexico City.
This strategic collaboration between the two major airlines offers several advantages for travelers. Emirates' extensive global network, coupled with United's strong domestic presence in the US, provides passengers with a multitude of choices and increased flexibility when planning their itineraries. Travelers can experience Emirates' renowned in-flight service on long-haul journeys and benefit from smooth connections to various destinations within Mexico via United's domestic network.
The codeshare program also streamlines the booking process for passengers. Emirates customers can book flights to these Mexican destinations on the Emirates website or through travel agents under a single ticket. This eliminates the hassle of purchasing separate tickets for different legs of the journey and ensures a more streamlined travel experience.
Furthermore, the expanded codeshare partnership strengthens the loyalty programs of both airlines. Emirates Skywards members can accrue miles while flying on both Emirates and United's international and domestic routes. Similarly, MileagePlus members can earn miles on select Emirates flights and connecting United flights.
This collaborative effort by Emirates and United Airlines caters to the growing demand for seamless travel experiences. By providing a wider network and enhanced connectivity, the expanded codeshare partnership opens up a world of possibilities for travelers seeking to explore new destinations or reunite with loved ones.
