Foreign Ministers Forge Path for Strengthened UAE-Philippines Ties

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with his Philippine counterpart, Enrique Manalo, in Manila on June 4th, 2024. The meeting, part of Sheikh Abdullah's working visit, focused on solidifying the relationship between the two nations as they approach the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties in August 1974.

Discussions centered on fostering bilateral relations and charting a course for expanded cooperation across various sectors. Both ministers acknowledged the strong foundation built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to the well-being of their citizens.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines also received Sheikh Abdullah during his visit. Their discussions echoed the themes explored in the meeting with Foreign Minister Manalo. President Marcos expressed his gratitude for the UAE's support for the Philippines and its citizens. He emphasized the depth of the relationship and the potential for further growth.
