Dubai drivers travelling along Jebel Ali Lehbab Road will need to navigate temporary traffic diversions implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) for the ongoing Route 2020 project. The project involves the Dubai Metro Red Line extension by 15 kilometers from Nakheel Harbour and Tower station to the Expo 2020 site.
The diversions are necessary to facilitate the construction of the elevated metro track's piers in the median area. The RTA assures drivers that the existing number of lanes will be maintained on the road in both directions.
Adel Al Marzouqi, Director of Right-of-Way at RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, emphasized that the disruptions will only be temporary and will remain until the required construction works are finalized. The RTA has formulated a comprehensive plan to manage the traffic flow during these diversions and minimize inconvenience to motorists. Project teams and contractors will strive to ensure the project adheres to the planned schedule to limit the overall impact on traffic flow.
Marzouqi urged drivers to pay close attention to the implemented diversions and follow the directional signage to navigate the road safely and avoid potential traffic congestion. The construction works will be ongoing throughout the day and night to expedite project completion.
The Route 2020 project is a significant infrastructure development that will enhance Dubai's public transport network. Upon completion, the extended metro line will provide a convenient and efficient travel option for residents commuting to the Expo 2020 site and surrounding areas. While the traffic diversions may cause some temporary inconvenience, they are essential for the development of this critical infrastructure project.
