Named after Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the "Mother of the Nation, " the awards celebrate the achievements of exceptional female athletes and sports personalities across the Arab world.
The nomination window opened on June 5th, 2024, and will continue until September 10th, 2024. This year's ceremony honors female athletes whose accomplishments took place between September 2023 and September 2024. Winners will be recognized in eight distinct categories, with a total prize purse of AED 1. 8 million (approximately USD 490, 000) to be distributed among the awardees.
The most prestigious award, the Arab Women Athlete category, carries a grand prize of AED 500, 000 (approximately USD 136, 000). Other categories include Best Emirati Women Athlete, Best Youth Athlete, Best Paralympic Athlete, Best Female/Male Coach, Best Sports Media, and Best Team. The seventh edition of the awards saw the introduction of the Best Sports Mother category, recognizing a mother's significant contribution to her daughter's sporting achievements. This category also boasts a prize of AED 150, 000 (approximately USD 41, 000).
