Dubai Hosts Landmark Critical Care and Transplant Conference

Dubai is hosting the first International Critical Care and Organ Donation and Transplant Conference, organized by Emirates Health Services (EHS). The three-day event, held from February 9-11, 2024, is a significant milestone aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among global medical professionals.

Dr. Sumaya Al Zarouni, Assistant Director for Medical Affairs at Al Qassimi Hospital, highlighted the event's focus on the latest advancements in critical care and organ transplantation. The conference features a diverse range of sessions, including keynote presentations, interactive workshops, and panel discussions, designed to address the most pressing issues in the field.

The first day of the conference covers topics such as cardiovascular health, organ donation, and transplantation, along with courses on ultrasound and Transcranial Doppler. Discussions will also focus on respiratory diseases and the latest guidelines on acute respiratory distress syndrome.

On the second day, sessions will address sepsis, acute liver failure management, and new guidelines for fever in intensive care units. Workshops on continuous renal replacement therapy and discussions on Hemodynamics, nutrition, and neurocritical care are also scheduled.

The final day will feature keynote sessions on fluid stewardship and the benefits of multidisciplinary rehabilitation post-intensive care. The "Hayat" program, the UAE's national initiative for organ donation and transplantation, will be discussed, alongside workshops on Hemodynamics and mechanical ventilation.
