Maersk Launches Largest Middle East Logistics Hub at Jeddah Port

A.P. Moller – Maersk has unveiled its largest logistics park in the Middle East, located at the Jeddah Islamic Port, a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing Saudi Arabia's role in global trade. The newly inaugurated facility, covering 225,000 square meters, integrates diverse logistics services under one roof, promising significant improvements in trade efficiency and supply chain resilience.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of prominent figures, including Saudi Arabia's Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser. He emphasized the importance of this development, noting its potential to bolster the Kingdom's economic activity and reinforce its maritime connectivity on the global stage. The logistics park is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals by supporting export activities and providing advanced warehousing solutions, including temperature-controlled facilities and custom-bonded setups.

Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, highlighted the strategic significance of the Jeddah facility, describing it as a milestone in the company's efforts to support global trade through integrated logistics solutions. The park is not only a testament to Maersk's commitment to decarbonization—with 70% of its energy needs met through solar power—but also a key component in the company's broader sustainability agenda.

The facility is designed to cater to a wide range of industries, including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, and electronics, offering multimodal connectivity between ocean, land, and air transport. Additionally, the logistics park features safety enhancements and a dedicated women’s academy, aiming to empower women in the logistics sector.

As Saudi Arabia continues to position itself as a global logistics hub, the Maersk Logistics Park at Jeddah Islamic Port stands as a critical asset in achieving these ambitions, offering both modern infrastructure and a commitment to sustainable practices.
