Sharjah's New Challenge to Boost Agritech and Livestock Health

Startups worldwide are being invited to participate in the sixth edition of the Access Sharjah Challenge (ASC), organized by the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa). This year's competition focuses on advancing agricultural technology and improving livestock health, with a total prize of AED 500,000.

The competition is divided into two tracks: AgriTech and Livestock Health. The AgriTech track encourages innovative solutions for sustainable agriculture, such as efficient irrigation methods and advanced desalination technologies. This initiative aims to address water scarcity issues and promote self-sufficiency in food production. Meanwhile, the Livestock Health track seeks to enhance livestock sustainability through advanced monitoring systems and preventive health technologies, ensuring disease-free conditions and improved biosecurity.

Participants must submit practical and implementable solutions, demonstrating a ready-to-use model. Shortlisted startups will receive intensive training to refine their concepts into viable projects. The top 10 ideas will be selected for further development and potential implementation in Sharjah.

The challenge aligns with the UAE's National Food Security Strategy 2051, which aims to position the country as a global leader in innovation-based food security. Dr. Eng. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Department of Agriculture and Livestock in Sharjah, emphasized the importance of sustainable strategies to combat climate change and enhance food security.

Sheraa's initiative highlights the emirate's commitment to sustainable development, leveraging modern technology to boost agricultural productivity and livestock health. This year's competition is set to strengthen Sharjah's position as a regional and global hub for AgriTech and livestock innovation.
