Al Meera spearheads environmental effort with Simaisma Beach cleanup

A community-driven environmental initiative led by Al Meera Consumer Goods Company saw volunteers descend on Simaisma Beach in Qatar for a comprehensive cleanup, marking a significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainability. The event was part of a broader corporate responsibility program designed to protect natural resources and raise awareness about pollution, with a focus on public hygiene and sustainability.

Al Meera's cleanup campaign, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and students from Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), brought together employees, volunteers, and environmental enthusiasts. These participants worked diligently to remove large amounts of waste, including plastic and other harmful materials, from the beach. The cleanup aimed to mitigate the damage caused by littering along the coastline, emphasizing the shared responsibility of maintaining environmental cleanliness.

The initiative aligns with Qatar’s National Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental development alongside economic and social growth. Al Meera, Qatar’s leading retail chain, has played an active role in supporting national sustainability goals through various campaigns, including the promotion of eco-friendly products, battery recycling programs, and educational outreach.

A representative from the Ministry of Municipality lauded the campaign for its strong turnout, noting that such efforts are critical to preserving the country’s beaches. Al Meera echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of collective action and community collaboration to create a sustainable future for Qatar.
