Zanzibar Partners with Oman Data Park to Boost E-Government Capabilities

The Government of Zanzibar has taken a significant step toward digital transformation through its partnership with Oman Data Park (ODP), marked by the signing of a service agreement aimed at enhancing the island's e-governance infrastructure. This deal forms part of Zanzibar's broader initiative to transition into a digital economy, prioritizing secure, efficient data management and cloud services.

The agreement, which was signed during President Hussein Ali Mwinyi's visit to Oman, empowers ODP to manage and operate a data center in Zanzibar. This facility will play a crucial role in ensuring the secure hosting of government and private sector data, aligning with Zanzibar’s ambitions to automate its systems and provide robust data protection measures. Oman Data Park, a leading cloud and cybersecurity service provider, is expected to leverage its expertise to elevate Zanzibar's public and private sectors by introducing advanced web hosting and cloud-based solutions.

Engineer Maqbool bin Salem Al-Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Data Park, underscored the importance of this partnership, highlighting that it reflects ODP’s growing presence beyond Oman and demonstrates the trust placed in its cloud services. This collaboration is set to facilitate Zanzibar’s transition toward a more secure and cost-effective digital infrastructure, a move that is expected to enhance the quality of e-services on the island.
