Binance Founder Appointed Strategic Advisor to Pakistan Crypto Council

Changpeng Zhao, widely known as "CZ," the founder and former CEO of Binance, has been appointed as the Strategic Advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council . This development underscores Pakistan's commitment to integrating blockchain technology and digital assets into its financial framework.

The PCC, officially launched on March 14, 2025, aims to regulate and promote blockchain and cryptocurrency innovations within the country. Chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the council includes key figures such as the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan , and the Federal Secretaries of Law and IT. Bilal Bin Saqib serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the PCC.

CZ's appointment is expected to bring a wealth of experience to the PCC. Under his leadership, Binance grew to become one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges. His expertise is anticipated to be instrumental in formulating policies that balance innovation with regulatory compliance.

The PCC has outlined several priorities, including establishing clear regulatory guidelines to facilitate crypto adoption, engaging with international crypto and blockchain organizations to ensure best practices, and encouraging responsible innovation by collaborating with key industry players such as fintech startups, investors, and blockchain developers.

Pakistan's move to integrate blockchain technology comes at a time when the country is exploring ways to modernize its financial sector. The PCC is also considering the tokenization of key infrastructure and state-owned enterprise assets to increase liquidity and efficiency in capital markets.
